Mason Jon Desormeaux

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mason Jon Desormeaux, born on June 25, 2011, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Mason tragically left this world on August 8, 2026, at the young age of 15. He was a bright soul whose spirit touched the lives of many around him.

Mason was a dedicated student who was eagerly looking forward to starting his freshman year at Vermilion Catholic High School. He was a kind and patient young man who was a friend to everyone. He had a genuine heart, never wanted anyone to feel left out, and loved nothing more than making people laugh.

Mason was also a creative soul who absolutely loved to draw, enjoyed building LEGOs and listening to a wide variety of music. And if you knew Mason, you knew how much he loved cars. He was a true car enthusiast through and through, and his passion for them was something that made him uniquely himself.

Though his life was heartbreakingly short, Mason touched countless lives. He will be remembered for his kindness, his patience, his humor, his creativity, his friendship, and the light he brought to everyone around him.

The family request visiting hours be observed on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Vincent Funeral Home in Abbeville, located at 209 S. Saint Charles St. On Saturday, August 15, 2026 visitation will take place at Our Savior's Church-Lafayette campus, located at 1201 E. Broussard Rd, Lafayette, LA 70508, from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. Dr. Scott Adams will officiate the services. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Brian P. Broussard, Jaylin P. Broussard, Aaron V. Lavergne, Christopher M. Bird, Lew Barnes and Carnell L. Broussard. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Broussard and Lyle G. Jordan.

Mason is survived by his loving parents, Chelsea R. Jordan and Martin J. Desormeaux; his brother, Jordan A. Desormeaux; his sister, Adin L. Desormeaux; his maternal grandparents, Cedric T. and Brenda B. Jordan; his maternal great-grandmother, Lois P. Jordan; his paternal grandmother, Dianna L. Sonnier; and his aunts, Haley R. Jordan and Nikki L. Phillips (Brent). He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will forever cherish the joyful memories they shared with him.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great- grandparents, Paul P. Broussard and Beulah M. Broussard; his maternal great-grandfather, Eddie L. Jordan, Jr.; and his paternal great-grandparents, Nelson Paul Desormeaux and Numa Louise Desormeaux.

The Desormeaux and Jordan family appreciates all the love and support during this difficult time. Mason will be remembered for his vibrant personality and the positive impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Mason’s memory by simply being kind, making someone laugh, and never taking a moment for granted with the people you love.
