Norma was a lifelong parishioner and lay minister at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, where she found joy and purpose in serving her community.
Throughout her life, Norma was known for her adventurous spirit. She and her beloved Lyman loved to travel, exploring both domestic and international destinations. A self-taught and accomplished artist, Norma expressed her creativity through various mediums. Her love language was Cajun home cooking, and she delighted in preparing meals for her family, bringing them together around the table.
Her passion for sewing was evident in the beautiful clothing she created, especially cherished Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. A joyful gardener, she nurtured a vibrant array of flowers, demonstrating her green thumb and her knack for starting cuttings that would flourish. In her spare time, Norma was a voracious reader and skillful crossword puzzle enthusiast.
Her unconditional devotion to her loving family, her cooking, painting, sewing, gardening, and her warmth and kindness has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Lyman Vincent of Kaplan; her two sons, Roger Vincent and partner, Kevin Serio of Lafayette and Mitchel Vincent and wife, Therese of St. Charles, MO; her two daughters, Ellen V. LaPoint and husband, Stephen of Baton Rouge and Jennie V. LeBeau and husband, Carl "Bubba" of Peachtree City, GA; her brother, Donald Simon of Lafayette; her six grandchildren, Ross Touchet, Jacob "Jake" LeBeau and his wife, Nyssa, Bret LeBeau and his wife Joana, Hilary Touchet, Nathaniel "Nat" Vincent and his fiancée Bethany, and Adam Vincent; her four great grandchildren, Trevor "Trey" Touchet, Anton LeBeau, Cecile LeBeau, and Marcel LeBeau; and her one great-great grandchild, Lily Touchet.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lovelace Simon; her mother, Anna S. Simon; her two sisters, Marian Turnage and Betty Couvillon; and her two brothers, Lloyd "Johnny" Simon and Roland Simon.
The family would like to give special thanks to her extremely devoted caregivers, Tammy Charlot, Sharon Wheeler, Jody Demarcay, and to the staff at the Vermilion at Eastridge for their kindness and care.
A gathering will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1007 N. LeJeune Ave, Kaplan, LA 70548 to celebrate Norma's life and the love she shared with us all.
