ABBEVILLE – Patrick Lege Donohue, 74, passed away on August 22, 2026, at his residence surrounded by family.

Patrick was born in Abbeville on March 3, 1952, to John Paul Donohue and Marie Elise Lege Donohue. A lifelong member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Patrick was a faithful Catholic whose faith enriched him throughout his life.

Patrick lived in the beautiful family home on South Main Street for nearly his entire life. He purchased the home from his parents with the love of his life, Rebecca Bordelon Donohue. Married in 1978, they raised their three children there and made it their own for the past 42 years.

A proud 1970 graduate of Vermilion Catholic High School, where he was a three-sport letterman, Patrick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. During college, he was an active member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, forming friendships that lasted a lifetime.

A Certified Petroleum Landman, Patrick co-founded Angelle & Donohue in 1980 and remained devoted to the firm throughout his life. Known for his strong will, straightforward manner, and unwavering determination, he earned the respect and appreciation of clients over a career that persisted through the extraordinary highs and lows of Louisiana’s oil and gas industry. That same perseverance sustained Angelle & Donohue through difficult times, and Patrick continued enjoying his work and helping his clients until the final chapter of his life. He was an active member of LOGA, LAPL, AAPL, and HAPL. He also succeeded his father as a Board member of Vermilion Corporation.

Patrick loved golf and, in recent years, was a member of Oakbourne Country Club. Throughout his life, he traveled with family and friends to play great courses across our beautiful country.

Patrick’s life-long passion for duck hunting started and ended at Camp Blarney in Pecan Island. Privileged to hunt the same area for more than seven decades, his guests in the “back blind” included his father, siblings, children, grandchildren, and countless relatives and friends. The camp was a focal point for hunting, stories, laughter, and “makin’ memories.” We all wish we could have “one more” morning with him watching the sun rise and the ducks fall.

To his grandchildren, Patrick was simply “Poppy,” a role he treasured. He always showed up for his family—sporting events, performances, and all the ordinary moments in between.

Patrick is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Rebecca Bordelon Donohue; daughters, Megan Donohue Breaux (Matthew) and Colleen Donohue Foreman (Khristopher); grandchildren, Claire Elise Breaux, James Andrew Breaux, and Willow Marie Foreman; and siblings, Elizabeth Gary, Patricia McIntyre, John P. Donohue, Jr. (Lory), Daniel Donohue (Kristi), James Donohue, Sr. (Susan), and Lise Kuhn (Allen).

He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Lege Donohue, Jr.; his parents, John Paul Donohue and Marie Elise Lege Donohue; and his brothers-in-law, John Wesley Gary III and Reginald James McIntyre.

A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Reverend Louis Richard will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 31, 2026, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. Patrick will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a eulogy at 6:00 PM followed by a rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:15 AM, when the procession will depart for the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Donohue, James Donohue, Sr., Reginald McIntyre III, John P. Donohue III, James Donohue, Jr., and Allen Kuhn, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be John P. Donohue, Jr., Allen Kuhn, Matthew Breaux, Khristopher Foreman, James Andrew Breaux, Alan Brown “Brownie” Fortier, and Keith Istre. Readers will be Wesleigh Gary Stewart and Margaret McIntyre VanRyckeghem. Gift bearers will be Claire Elise Breaux, Riley Donohue Harmon, and Lilia Elise Kuhn.
