ABBEVILLE - A Mass of Christian Burial for Ricky John Meaux, officiated by Reverend Emmanuel Manny Fernandez, will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Henry, LA. He will be laid to rest at the Bancker Cemetery.
A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S St. Charles St., Abbeville, LA 70510 on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for the church at 10:30 AM.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Tucker Meaux, Tanner Meaux, Christopher Meaux, Bruce Webb, Sammy Delino, and Robert Meaux.
Ricky was born on December 20, 1953, at The Palms Hospital in Abbeville, along with his twin sister Rebecca. They were born just in time to see Santa Claus, who was making his rounds at the hospital.
He spent most of his life in the communities of Abbeville and Henry, LA. He attended Abbeville High School before going on to study at McNeese State University and the University of Southwest Louisiana, where he earned a degree in accounting.
Ricky was dedicated to his Catholic faith as a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Henry, LA. He enjoyed singing in various church choirs and attended retreats in Grand Coteau and made his ACTS retreat with St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville. He was a member of the St. Mary Magdalen Council of the Knights of Columbus and a 4th Degree Sir Knight with the Rev. A. J. Braquet Assembly 0330. He made numerous trips to visit his “Little Sisters” at Our Lady of the Angels Monastery in Hanceville, AL.
For several years, he served as a Scout Leader with the Boy Scouts of America, Evangeline Area Council. He enjoyed camping trips and outings with his sons and their friends. He was awarded the William J. McGoffin Memorial Award, the St. George Emblem, the Bronze Pelican Medal for his leadership with Catholic Scout groups, and the Silver Beaver Medal, the highest award given by the BSA.
He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time in his flower and vegetable gardens. He belonged to the American Hemerocallis Society (daylilies), Cenia Daylily Club, Delta Daylily Club, and the Mike Bernard Hibiscus Club. His favorite saying was, “Oh well, if my plant dies, it gives me the joy of going buy a new one.”
He is survived by his second wife, Vickie Leonards Meaux; his sons, Jerod Michael (Melanie) and Cody James (Kimberly); and his grandsons, Tucker and Tanner. He is also survived by his brother, Steven Meaux (Cheryl); his sister, Rebecca Meaux Webb (Bruce); brothers-in-law, Randall Hebert, Claude “Sammy” Pullin, and Arthur Lee Pullin; and his “adoptive sister,” Shirley Bertrand.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cora Stephanie Pullin; his parents, James E. Meaux and Lillian Gisclair Meaux; and his in-laws, Claude Sanders and Eunice Pullin.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Joseph Brierre, Dr. Jonathan Thompson, Eric Buller, P.A., all the staff of the Lourdes Cancer Center and Michelle Broussard.
