ABBEVILLE – Roland Joseph Hebert, 86, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy as sturdy and enduring as every weld he ever laid down. Family was the center of Roland's world. As a father, he was steadfast, present, and deeply invested in the lives of those he loved. He had a way of making every child, grandchild, and family member feel seen and cherished. He didn't just provide for his family — he poured himself into them, showing up not just in the big moments, but in all the ordinary ones that turn out to matter most.

His faith was the foundation beneath everything. Roland lived his beliefs not just on Sunday mornings, but in the way he treated people every single day — with grace, humility, and genuine care. His relationship with God was quiet but unshakable, and it showed in the way he moved through the world.

And what a way he had with the world. Roland was known throughout his community as a kind spirit with an infectious positivity that was simply impossible to resist. His humor was legendary — dry, sharp, perfectly timed — and his sarcasm could make you groan and grin at the same time. He had a gift for lifting people up, whether through a well-placed joke, a steady hand, or just being the person who always seemed to show up when someone needed him most. Neighbors, friends, and even strangers found in Roland someone who genuinely cared, who listened, and who gave freely of his time and heart.

Come springtime, you could find Roland parked in front of a baseball game, fully invested in every pitch and play with the passion of a lifelong fan. And when the season allowed, he was out on the water, fishing rod in hand, perfectly at peace with the quiet and the possibility of what might bite next. Those moments of stillness were his reward for a life of hard work and faithful living.

Roland Joseph Hebert was a welder, a father, a man of faith, a caretaker, and a jokester who brightened every corner of the community he called home. The arc of his life burned bright and steady, and the bonds he forged — in steel and in love — will never break. He is deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Roland is survived by his sons, Brian P. Hebert and his wife Marlene; Benson J. Hebert and his wife Christina; Brent W. Hebert, Bradley J. Hebert and Brady P. Hebert; his sisters; Rena H. Duhon and her husband Larry and Rita Mae H. Marceaux; his brother, Richard Hebert; his grandchildren, Kyle Hebert, Jean Luc Hebert, Andre Hebert-Stelly, Noelle Hebert Pagitt, Arianne Hebert Campbell and Kaleb Hebert and his great grandchildren, Owen J. Hebert, Hayden Pagitt, Leo Paul Campbell, Jacqueline C. Hebert, Lincoln Hebert and Griffin Pagitt. Stansbury, Shirley H. Broussard, Raymond Hebert and Renis Hebert.
