It is with a heavy heart that we announce the tragic passing of our parents, Rudolph Joseph Swire and Charlene Marie Doucet Swire, who left us on June 9, 2025, both 65 years of age. The couple, who shared a devoted life of 44 years together, tragically lost their lives due to a house fire in Grand Chenier, LA. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, honoring the lives of Charlene and Rudolph. Pallbearers will be Cy Hebert and Rivers Wilson. Honorary pallbearer will be Whitney Wood. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Abbeville. A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 12:00 PM. Charlene was born on April 9, 1960, in Abbeville, LA. She dedicated her life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the hospital industry. Her compassion and nurturing spirit touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Rudolph was born on October 1, 1960, in Creole, LA. Rudolph lived a full life dedicated to his family and his work, most notably as a bridge operator for the Louisiana Department of Transportation. With over 30 years of experience as a crane operator before transitioning to his role as a bridge operator, he was known for his skill and dedication in ensuring the safe passage of many. The couple is survived by their sons, Whitney Wood and his wife, Jennifer, and Ryan Swire and his wife, Brittany; grandchildren, Cy, Gabbie, Mya, Jasmine, Rivers, Rynnlee, Jules Jr., Kirstin, and Destiny; and seven great grandchildren. Charlene is also survived by her brother, Jessie Doucet and his wife, Elaine. Rudolph is also survived by three brothers, Keith Swire and his wife, Andrea, Anthony Swire and his wife, Judy, and Asa Swire; and two sisters, Marlene Swire, Nancy Hunter and her husband, Jeff. In addition to their immediate family, the couple is survived by their godchildren, Jody Smith, Austin Swire, Micayla Neil, Tator Roy, and Jacob Doucet; numerous nieces and nephews; and friend, Colleen Stout. Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, Edes Joseph Doucet and the former Avia Marie Peltier; and two brothers, Ernest Doucet and Jimmy Doucet. Rudolph is preceded in death by his parents, Dudley Joseph Swire and the former Hilda Mae Vincent; and brother, Punkin Swire. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Grand Chenier fire department, police department, and family members who responded to the scene during this tragic event.
