Abbeville- Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Sheila Constance Vansant, 83, who died Monday, August 16, 2021 at Amelia Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette. She will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. Madge McLain officiating the services.
Sheila was born and raised in Manchester, England. After moving to the United States, she began her career as an executive secretary on Capitol Hill for Senator Herman Talmadge, as well as working as a secretary for several government offices. After marrying and moving to Georgia, she took the real estate license exam and the rest was history. She held a real estate license in three states, and was also a real estate broker for many years. She knew real estate front, back, side to side and around again. She worked for many different firms throughout the years in Abbeville and Lafayette, and then started her own agency, Vansant Real Estate, for a few years before retiring.
She is a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and volunteered her time at the Christian Service Center. She loved to sing and make people laugh.
She is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Tracy Falcon and Sheila “Connie” Vansant.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents, Sydney Jackson and the former Winifred Tracy; and her only sibling, Dennis Jackson.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM; Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 11:30 AM until time of services.
Due to the recent rise in Covid-19 cases, the family requests that everyone in attendance please wear a mask or face covering.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.vincentfuneralhome.net . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made either to St. Paul Episcopal Church or the Christian Service Center.
