Shirley Frederick Fontenot

Abbeville-A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Reverend Francois Sainte-Marie will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday April 1, 2026 at St. Theresa of The Child Jesus Catholic Church honoring the life of Shirley Frederick Fontenot, 81, who passed away on Monday March 30, 2026 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Delcambre, Marco Menard, Blade Fontenot, Efton J. Fontenot, III, Jessie Frederick and James Mouton. She is survived by her two sons, Ronald Fontenot, Sr. and Efton Fontenot, Jr. both of Abbeville; two daughters, Patricia Leleux and Sherry Fontenot all of Abbeville; grandchildren, Crystal Menard, Anthony Menard, Marco Menard, Tara Fontenot, Efton Fontenot, III, Ronald Fontenot, Jr., Keisha Fontenot, Blade Fontenot, Billy Delcambre, Alice Delcambre, and Mark Delcambre; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great grand son.

Shirley was preceded death by her husband, Efton Joseph Fontenot, Sr.; her parents, Claude and Marie Suire Frederick; brother, Billy John Frederick; son, Anthony Fontenot; sister, Mary Jean Clark; and daughter-in-law, Ena Fontenot and one great great grandaughter Kinsley Claire. A visitation will take place on Tuesday March 31, 2026 from 1:30 PM until 12:45 PM on Wednesday April 1, 2026 when the procession departs for church. The funeral home will remain open all night.
