Velva Jane Frederick

Funeral services officiated by Deacon William "Billy" Vincent will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 08, 2026, at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, honoring the life of Velva Frederick, 77, who passed away on May 2, 2026, at her residence surrounded by family. She will be laid to rest at Bancker Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Derrik Frederick, Corey Hebert, Frisco Yanna, Trevor Stelly, Terry Delcambre, and Clint Frederick. 

A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, on Friday, May 08, 2026, from 9:30 AM until the time of services. Velva was the owner of Velva’s Fabric Center in Abbeville. 

Her passion for creativity was matched only by her love for cross stitching, solving puzzles, and enjoying game shows. Velva’s vibrant personality brought joy to her family and friends, as she embraced life’s simple pleasures, including spending treasured moments with her grandchildren and nurturing her passion for flowers and dancing. 

Velva will be remembered for her kind heart, generosity, and unyielding trustworthiness. Her sassy spirit often brought laughter to her family gatherings, ensuring that there was never a dull moment. With a special fondness for her beloved pig, Penelope, Velva’s nurturing nature extended to all living beings. 

She is survived by her daughter, Lanetta Hebert; granddaughters, Sydette, Brie, and Monica; and great-grandchildren, Ellimae, Emmah, Jholea, Slayden, Khol, Abel, and others. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Eugenia Marie Davidson Klein; father, Joseph C Frederick; sons, Corey J. Frederick, Eric Frederick, and Shane Frederick; grandmother, Pauline Richard Luquette; stepfather, George Klein; and brother, Feris Frederick. 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her granddaughter, Brie Harrington, who was her caregiver and provided her with exceptional love and care throughout her life.
